hello again everyone!
it’s already march…crazy. i only have 2 more months in san diego…and my comp goes home this month and also my mission mom from temple square and all of my favorite sisters there go home this month… the older you get in the mission, the sadder it is when sisters leave. but it’s okay because we are working really hard here in san diego till the very end.
this week nothing super special happened or anything. pretty much every single appointment that we had this week cancelled which is rough…just means A LOT of contacting which can get really tiring when NO ONE wants to talk haha and so this happened one day where seriously no one wanted to talk and we were walking everywhere and it was hot and i was annoyed and was having a little abby moment and then we are walking in this area and there are like all of these college kids at the pool swimming and laying out and i had a natural man moment where i really wished i wasn’t a missionary….haha but it’s okay, we all have those moments. dont worry, i repented for being selfish. then I was thinking about the scripture in Mosiah that says,
“For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father”.
i love that scripture because it kinda just lays out the attributes that we each need to work on. those characteristics come as we put off the natural man, which can only come through the atonement, which requires DAILY repentance.
we added a few new investigators this week which is good! we just have to help them to progress and continue to feel the spirit. apparently last transfer here the sisters only added 1 new investigator the whole 7 weeks and this transfer we have already added 7 and it’s been 4 weeks so that is a good sign. we saw a lot of less actives too. i think sometimes i feel like seeing less actives isn’t missionary work, but it totally is! whether they are getting baptized or just coming back to church it is so important. Heavenly Father doesn’t forget any of us! (and neither do the missionaries).
we also did a lot of service as well. seriously service is the best. weeds all day every day and cleaning out hoarders homes. good stuff. we have been going to sis. rodeens a lot to spend time with her and share messages but also she is finally letting us do service! she is gonna do dialysis from home so we are cleaning this huge area and organizing all her stuff to put the machine in. sis. rodeen is the BEST. I seriously just love her.
i am reading the book of mormon again and i was reading in Omni the other day and this is one of my new favorite scriptures. ps: every time i read the book of mormon i love it more and more.
“And now, my beloved brethren, I would that ye should come unto Christ, who is the Holy One of Israel, and partake of his salvation, and the power of his redemption. Yea, come unto him, and offer your whole souls as an offering unto him, and continue in fasting and praying, and endure to the end; and as the Lord liveth ye will be saved”. submitting our wills to God, is really giving Him the only thing that is really ours to give.
will we offer our whole souls unto him? will we repent daily? will we put off the natural man and let the atonement change us and heal us? there are so many blessings that come as we are yoked with the savior. now we just have to act on it!
read the book of mormon and pray about it. i know our lives will change as we come to know our savior better.
i love you all! choose the right. always.
