Sister Time, Pioneer Day, Transfers & Friends

hello everyone!

surprise i still have wednesday p-day. wanna hear another surprise? my new companion is from ASIA!!! but the philippines haha. her name is sister mones. she is funny. it is going to be a good transfer. i’m still serving in welfare square which is so incredibly busy. yesterday, we had 11 tours between 2 companionships and we were only there for 6 hours. sister solorzano and i took 6 tours…that means 6 hours of tours in the 6 hours we were there. no lunch. nothing. ah. my body is slowly dying here. it’s okay i can do it.

pioneer day was so fun! you don’t know how to celebrate pioneer day until you live in utah. we were on the square in the morning while the newer sisters went to the parade. then they bussed the older sisters in the mission up to “this is the place” park. it was so much fun. we were away from the square for like 6 hours. it was refreshing. it was so fun to just get to hangout and relax and spend time with the sisters. then we came back and had ice cream. perfect day even when it was 100 degrees. it is really cool though to be able to serve where pioneers lived for the gospel of jesus christ and died for the gospel of jesus christ. it’s so special. last week i was reading a talk by president monson and i think it just sums everything up pretty well. he said,
“to be a latter-day saint is to be a pioneer, for the definition of a pioneer is “one who goes before to prepare or open up the way for others to follow.” and to be a pioneer is to become acquainted with sacrifice. the path of a pioneer is not easy, but we follow in the footsteps of the ultimate pioneer-even the savior- who went before, showing us the way to follow”.

just like last transfer, i love transfer day. all the sisters from my mtc class came back to temple square today that were serving outbound. such a happy reunion. it’s the best. i love being able to serve around 200 sisters every single day, and getting to know the missionaries in ways that no other mission in the world is able to. we form such great relationships… so being away from each other is tough, but it makes the reunion even sweeter! temple square is the best.

this morning i dropped off sister dean at the airport. now she’s a normal person again! it was sad. but president poulsen and sister poulsen(our old mission president and his wife), were at the airport to see sisters off. apparently they have been doing this every transfer since being home. they are so sweet! we miss them here.

i love being a missionary. i love my mission. this is the greatest work in the world and i am so happy that the lord chooses the weak and simple, to be a part of it.

“look unto god with firmness of mind, and pray unto him with exceeding faith, and he will console you in your afflictions, and he will plead your cause”. jacob 3:1

love you all. choose the right.
